My therapy background and qualifications
My name is Daphne Gardner and I became interested in complementary therapies in 1986 when I stayed at a health farm in Somerset. There I had time to relax, unwind and start coming to terms with a family bereavement. As part of my week stay I attended a talk by a Reflexologist and booked an appointment to try out this "new" therapy which I had never heard of before.
After an hour of treatment and a three hour sleep afterwards I was amazed at how relaxed I felt, but also at how the Reflexologist was able to "pick up" imbalances in my body through my feet. When I returned home I set out to find a local Reflexologist and have been receiving treatment, usually very regularly, for more than 35 years.
It was nine years later that I trained as a Reflexologist with the Bayly School of Reflexology, named for one of the first UK teachers of Reflexology. I began my practice in Surrey in 1994, after qualifying, and became a member of the Association of Reflexologists a few years later.
My journey continued after I started teaching Reflexology and Anatomy and Physiology to adult learners and my own practice developed as I explored energy work techniques as a result of my experiences with clients. I trained in Reiki, Level I and Level II and also became a Holistic Massage Therapist at this time, as well as extending my Reflexology training. I also worked on a project supporting NHS staff with health and well-being in South London. When my career in education expanded I gave up my practice in Surrey. In 2004 I took my personal development work further by taking the Journey Practitioner programme with Brandon Bays.
Upon moving to Orford in 2015 I decided to re-open my practice at my hidden retreat near the Suffolk coast and I now practice from a Summer House in my lush summer garden. Working here is joyous for me and relaxing for my clients who love it too.
I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists. This means I have the letters MAR after my name and in addition my insurance covers me to practice all the therapies I advertise.
I hold an ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage since I qualified in 2004.
I am qualified in Reiki Level I (1997) & Level II (2001) to work as a practitioner.
In 2007 I qualified as a Journey Practitioner following my own personal development journey. Journey Therapy sessions are available, so please contact me for further information and to discuss your needs.
The Association of Reflexologists has a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement for membership and every year I am required to undertake a number of hours training to meet their standards. This allows me to maintain and develop my skills in order to continue offering my clients a professional therapy service.
I am based in Orford, Suffolk. Situated on the outskirts of the village and easily accessible from Woodbridge, Wickham Market, Snape, Aldeburgh and surrounding areas I am close to the Suffolk coast and work from my tranquil garden summer house. I also see clients who are visiting the area on holiday or visiting family.
